I feel the WinWin Selling course is very valuable and makes one think about the realistic part of selling. It builds confidence levels by providing tools you can work thru to set realistic goals and achievements in the workplace as well as real life situations. I feel much more confident in my job and I enjoyed working with the tutor: a valuable learning asset to have available.

Loretta Derrah

This course has certainly improved my chances of achieving and even surpassing my sales quota. It provided a detailed, thorough treatment of the material; provided examples and real-life anecdotes to bring realism to the course; and delivered the tools and knowledge to enhance performance in the sales industry. It has improved my ability to manage difficult situations without getting stressed and/or angry.

When I needed help, it was provided immediately and the almost real-time feedback to the activities from Pat was great.

Craig Worcester

This was an extremely positive course to take and I really appreciated the knowledge that I learned from it. It has helped me learn how to deal with the myriad customer problems that I deal with in my product support role.

Thanks for the link back to the course.  There are a few areas I wanted to review again, so I am glad to have it.

Dan Brunton/Schaumburg/IBM. GSD Platform Services

I was highly confident of achieving my quota next year, and my opinion remains the same after taking this course. I do believe however, that I am better prepared, and I have book marked the sections of this that I want to come back to.

I enjoyed the on-line tutor. I will be coming back to reference this site, many times in my first few months as a salesperson, to re-enforce what I feel are valuable sales and personal skills.

I found this course rich in information, that I am sure has come from many years as an excellent and experienced sales professional. I look forward to coming back and reading up on things, such as the memory sections, planning, and how to read another person's body language. I think this was a great tutorial to get one started in the sales profession. Thanks for the encouragement and taking the time to respond to my activities. I wish you all the best in the future. Thanks Pat,

Paul Gurney

I moved out of sales about 4 years ago into contracts and negotiations. However, I do think about the sales training I took with you and would like to think I can use that not only in my current job, but in life itself. Is there a charge for me to pop back into the site and for the refresher or am I now on your 'preferred list'?

Bruce E. Wiebe.

I feel very confident in what I have learned through WinWin selling. I have taken great ideas on how to better my sales abilities and I feel that I could do WinWin all over again and probably take more away from it. I know now that I have a sales resource to fall back on if I ever need to refresh my skills. It has really made me think about what I say and how I say it and how it may be perceived by someone else whether it be a Manager, colleague or customer, I am judged by what I say. I must always be conscious of what I am saying and how I express it. I definitely feel more confident about the achievement of target.

Pat has been amazing. I have thoroughly enjoyed our interactions. His feedback on my exercises has been very helpful as well as encouraging.

Michelle Williston.

I truly find WinWin to be a perfect seller's guide to learning how to be the best possible sales person you can. I think it incorporates everything that you need to know to be the best in your field. Learning to apply what has been learned will be the challenge. The online tutor was very quick. What ever he told me I took in, and tried to better my sales skills. I think everyone in sales in IBM should take this course if they want to be more successful.

Ian Weekes

This was a great course, covered everything that I could think of.  Increased confidence, tips on how to improve selling, speaking with customers, writing emails and so on. The whole course was great. Confidence with dealing with all people, not just customers -- very high response time and great interaction.  I have learnt a lot thank you.

Lindsay Wetmore

Superb course! Increased my knowledge of the WinWin methodology and has given me much more confident about my overall selling skills. This course will help me deal with conflicts, listening to others, and changes the mindset to think about ways everyone can win. I am so much more confident about achieving targets. I appreciated the quick responses from the tutor.

This course is GREAT! It has been very beneficial to me and I learned a lot from the lessons. Furthermore, I now have more confidence that I can build a better and lasting customer relationship that will be a WinWin to the customer and to IBM.
The course provides the necessary and required tools to become an effective salesperson. I found module one to be very instructive on how to deal with not only customers but also with loved ones. I feel confident that I will be able to achieve my quota using the knowledge gained in this course and Pat has been great providing feedback regularly. I do appreciate his remarks each time I completed a section or module.

Bisi Adedokun. USA. Software IT Architect

An excellent course! I felt more confident with each training session and I have learned how to better communicate and stay organized day to day. These skills will help in my career and will carry over to my personal life. I thought that the printable items such as the planners were excellent. I appreciated the body language section and I am more conscious not to be sending the wrong signals during meetings!

Alissa Pastor. United States Minor Islands. Software Sales Specialist

The information provided will assist me with my interactions with clients and will also help me develop professionally. I have learned so many different things that I cannot specify a single item. The one thing that comes to mind is the WIFM.

The course also helped me feel that the IBM way of doing business is in sync with my philosophy of doing business. A sale is not a transaction but a relationship which is built with the client. Great response time and every seller in IBM should complete it.

Lee Kemp

I've really tried to reflect on my personal life, my experiences, and attitudes.  I was unable to finish this course in 2 days like recommended and that was mainly due to my schedule. Even so 2 weeks ago on a plane ride home from vacation, I leaned my seat back the 2 inches in reclines, and the women behind me had a fit.  For some reason she was upset that I did that.  Before starting this course I would pretty much have told here to go to hell. After taking this course, I saw her as a potential sale, realized the 2 inches didn't matter to me that much and politely said "no problem, I'll put my seat up it it bothers you."

Today I had a person in my office who is incredibly negative about everything. In general I really don't like this person because of their attitude.  Today I took an extra special interest in what she was talking about; she took notice and was happy as a clam when she left my office.  I'm pretty sure she's going to say to other people "That Dean is a Good Guy".  While she doesn't have much clout because she is a whiner, It's important for every one I come in contact with to say "Dean's a Good Guy" regardless if I like them or not. I think this class could be very valuable to IBM Masses (Non-Sales) as well.  There might need to be some changes to the course for just a self improvement class.

Dean Henkel

This training seminar exceeded my expectations and engaged my attention throughout this process. Actually, it relieved some concerns I had entering the sales profession. The media portrays sales as a profession filled with deceit and cheating, with a goal to only take advantage of customers to gain profits. I am glad people see sales as a noble profession filled with people that truly understand people’s feelings and trying to help them. Having these values with make me a lot more confident asking for a customers business.

Pat, thanks for all your input. This is the most original and engaging online course I have ever taken. I value your time and efforts. I liked the activities. It makes you really think about things and also allows me to develop ideas and opinions. I feel I will retain this information because I wrote it down.

Thank you for everything. This process can really make a difference. We should get all IBM employees to take this type of training upon new hire. It's worth the time.

Arvin Kamboj

WinWin Selling has reinforced that good selling starts with having a good attitude.  This is really a great tool. I have taken several sales classes and this one is by far the most useful and meaningful.  Great job in designing the course and every sales pro should take this.

Tom Chau

Although I have had some previous experience with WIN WIN, the refresher and expansion on some of the concepts (negotiations, closing, objections, CRM) will definitely be of benefit.

The last module was the one I needed most. Generally I try to assume a less than offensive posture when dealing with customers. But module 4 showed me that there is a time to be assertive and get the customer through that last step (and that you don't have to sacrifice integrity to get there) The view that I don't have to use shady tactics to win business and that customers expect an honest dialogue from there sales people now, was nice to see.

It fits more with my personal style and will be easier to adopt. Thanks for the support and feedback.

Matt Le Quelenec

Having experienced many of these skills or learning’s, I found the course very informative. It hits on areas that are very relevant to the 'life of a salesperson'.

In relation to the achievement of quota: It will definitely help...I can't wait to get back out there! The course set up with the tutor has been outstanding. It is the right level of lecture, activities and interaction. This is an excellent way to deliver this kind of training.

Karl Meyer

I feel that each interaction I have had with the customer has been positively influenced by information I have learned from WinWin Selling. I am more relaxed, confident and in a better listening mode with customers and teammates.

I am also more confident about achievement of quota (our team finished Q2 at 216% of our quarterly quota). This was a very good course and thank you for spending the time reviewing my activities.

Joel Pech

It has reassured my belief that win-win selling is more appropriate than the often taught ABC approach which is often one-sided and all parts of the course were of benefit to me! I think it was great as I got a response back much faster than I had anticipated and great motivation to complete the course.

Pat provided excellent assistance for the duration of the course, and quickly responded to exercise submissions all while providing positive and encouraging feedback. Pat's dedication was invaluable and I would highly recommend his course to anyone wanting to develop ones sales skills.

Michael Ziarko

The course was great, I enjoyed every step of the way!

Reza Kazemipour

The course gave a a very comprehensive framework to stick to. Being new in the profession, this was the first course giving me very helpful hints and tips on how to structure your sales approach and what strategy is important at what time. To have a more diplomatic approach in extreme situations. This could help winning in the long run. Also the preparation of your interactions is very important and useful tips were provided on that part. I feel more confident because I now have a framework which I intend to follow rigorously in order to structure my process and increase my chance of winning. The section about calculating your time spent on different parts in the sales process is very useful as several flaws can come to surface after investigation. As soon as you know these flaws, you are able to correct them and hence be more efficient.

I rate this course very highly!

Bob Breyne

I am satisfied that I have been given the tools to increase my skills. Great course!

James Wilson

Fast, encouraging response over email to many activities responses seemed unique to my answers. Material was excellent, inspiring and easy to go through.

Heather Hartman

Throughout the course there was information, examples, and short assignments that reinforced the objectives. It made me re-evaluate the way in which I interact with customers, or clients. In managing people, its one of power, there are many different ways to influence people, and the WinWin strategy is a perfect fit for individuals who believe that high pressure selling is NOT productive.

Pat did a great job and was very attentive during my taking this course. Great comments, not only supporting my thoughts, but in challenging them. Nothing to add but great course!!

Ron Hilgert – Senior IT Specialist

think that it was a great course, very worthwhile. I would recommend it to others. I just don't often give a perfect score. I am very happy that I took the course.

Jordan Morley

The skills presented were all valuable skills, and all the information was presented in a very positive light which lent itself to a fun learning environment.  I the interaction positive for all parties involved. I try to look at still need practice, but I'm trying to go into any interaction looking at how I can keep people as companions in an experience, not friends or adversaries. It's very difficult still, but it will get easier.

I appreciated the interaction, especially the live responses. Helps me appreciate the examples more when I know there's a real person on the other end of them.

Sean Byrd

I think this course has provided some excellent best practices in a succinct and practical way.  I have to create my own luck/opportunities with the skills that I have and this course increased my confidence by showing that I am not doing anything fundamentally wrong.  Thanks for the input.

Andy Hindley

The course has been brilliant and when the knowledge gained is applied properly, the objectives have been met. Swift, encouraging and to the point - as good as they get!

John Boija

There are many parts of WinWin selling that can be applied in my relationships with my children. Especially the section on negotiation! The course objectives listed on the prior page have all been delivered - as promised! Provided lots of concrete suggestions - some of which I have saved off or emailed to myself that I will be able to refer to later. I won't have all the answers, but sometimes having a place to start to look for the answer or and idea about how to handle a situation is the kick-start you need!

Actually I think it is a great way to deliver the material - allows you to pace yourself and also to be able to go through the course on your own schedule. Crosswords are fun! Full marks for top class tuition.

Margaret Meyer

I am quite pleased with the new learning, it was a very good course to take prior to selling software after beverages (11 years).

This training course refreshed my existing skills & added new approaches. No one wins in an argument. The true Win/Win is the best way to get the issue solved. I do know that I have learned many skills and refreshed some prior learning therefore I feel better prepared to sell Software products using a Solution based approach. This was my first training on-line experience. I enjoyed it.

I like the notes that I e-mailed to myself. They will be good to revisit in the future to keep on track! As a sales person the approach of not selling on the initial call was interesting I will remember that! The short stories & quotes were a great way to drive home the various points. Mark Twain quotes were especially good.

It was a nice touch to get a call from Pat (my coach) in Ireland!

Timothy Bourke

Very Helpful. Very Encouraging. This course would have been much more difficult to get through without some encouraging words at the right time and that is mainly because I am a technical person and not directly involved in sales.  However, I found it to be terrific.

John Bubenheim

Response time, positive re-enforcement, and comments were very helpful. Enjoyed the course, found the content to be very useful.

Greg Brown Sr.

I thought it was great. It was first time being involved in a course like this with on-line response. It kept me going.

Phil Liaboe

I really enjoyed this course. The stories were relevant, the visuals were good. From someone that has sold training in the past, I was very impressed taking my first online course. Thanks and I enjoyed your course very much!

Sean Mulvill

The lessons learned from the training can not only be used in our day to day professional life, but also with friends and family.  Pat, I appreciate the effort to communicate with me. Thanks for putting together such a great program on-line.

Anne Vise

I would say WWS has delivered on its objectives b/c (1) it has challenged my thought process when it comes the sales process (2) it has clearly laid out practices and forms to help us be successful (3) it has re-enforced that this a role that I want and am excited about. Pat was excellent. I appreciated his feedback and he was even able to offer me further suggestions to my situation.

Sinead Murphy

I appreciated the prompt responses. The encouragement was good. The best thing was pointing out areas where I can improve. I believe that most parts of this course would be very valuable to others in IBM Global Services Strategic Outsourcing. We are constantly dealing with the customer. Keeping motivated to be positive around the customer would help everyone. Also many of the individual skills would be helpful on a day to day basis.

Dean Compher.

WinWin Selling is an excellent interactive course. I now have total confidence in my ability to achieve quota. This course has given me the assurance and ability to start my new role confidently and I think it is perfect!

Great Course. It was good to have some one ask for your thoughts and opinions and receive feedback it makes you feel better about doing the work.

Keith Dickson

WinWin Selling is definitely among the very best sales training courses I've ever taken at IBM or anywhere else for that matter. Thanks a ton for putting it together.

James Reynolds. End User Services ISL

Excellent course that I was using as a refresher and it covered all aspects of selling which in turn has made me more confident in preparing for customer engagements

Philip DeNotto. IT Specialist.

I am very pleased with the results I have had in applying the skills of WinWin Selling and I feel comfortable in my expectation that I will also see results in my level of leads generated. The questions were great and very helpful to me as a template for asking the discovery questions when I am on a call.  I do feel more confident and assured that with effort and planning I will see improved performance if I am diligent in applying the concepts.

Amanda Bourque . Sales Specialist

I was able to take something from every part of the course. Pat has been both helpful and encouraging. His comments are very uplifting. I was already feeling pretty confident about achieving quota and this course has reinforced that confidence. I wouldn’t change anything about the course as I found it to be perfect as it is.

Jeff Schell

This course has covered every aspect of sales: very, very informative. I have a better peace of mind now. I've never done outbound sales before. I think now that I've taken this course I have obtained knowledge that I can use over the phone. My positive attitude will reflect my ability to achieve. The on-line tutor is great. It’s nice getting feedback!.

Vicki Morin

This was a well constructed course that offered significant insight into successful selling. I have learned that an attitude of positive conviction can be contagious if properly managed.

While I am not in a position that carries a quota assignment, the idea of planning questions prior to meeting with a client or prospect prior to a discovery session is very helpful. I can see how this allows the interviewer to maintain an appropriate level of control and potentially uncover important information that may have otherwise been unknown. The information on improving memory skills was helpful. I also found value in the discussion on body language/non-verbal communication.

Jeffery Cole. IT Specialist

Hi Pat,

Appreciate the note. I've had tremendous success in my sales role this year and last and can say that WinWin contributed to that success. It's a course that every new hire should take, and use for their sales development.

Best Regards, Bruce Mann, Account Development Representative

My objectives have been achieved completely and I feel much more confident in the sales arena after taking this course.  My positive attitude and the win-win thinking have helped me with support of our customers and my coworkers. They appreciate that I take time to work with them and treat them as friends instead of just workers.

The sales presentation part of the course was very powerful. It is important to remember that the presentation doesn't have to be outstanding as long as it is delivered well. It has helped me in my dealings with others who appreciate the new positive attitude that I have. Too many times, I have been negative and I feel that a more positive approach to things have made me feel better.  While I don't have a quota, I do feel more confident about my sales skills.  I can't think of anything to add, it was a very good course.

Dan Brunton. (Software engineer)

My objectives were achieved completely and I am more confident that I will be able to do this job. Every module reinforced the key strategies and learning points that I need for successful selling. Keys to success at IBM through win-win selling method and signature selling.

This training exercise reinforced essential skills: pausing before speaking and listening and that preparation for any interaction with clients is a key issue. I am much more confident that I will be able to do this job. Great Exercise!

Adrienne Arnold. (Business Development Representative)

Great to hear from you! Thanks for staying in touch.  Doing very well and enjoying myself here at IBM. Would love to try and find the time to get a refresher . . . maybe over the holidays if things slow down. The course definitely helped. I have the "10 Ways to WinWin Selling" printed out and still keep it visible in my office as a reminder.

Hope you are doing well as well.   Thanks for the link!

Lon L. Holden | IBM SWG Solution Manager.

Thanks for your email - It is good to hear from you.  Am currently in a tele based role and WinWin selling has made an impact on improving my selling skills. The part where you had suggested better terms like Value instead of Price helps a great deal in my conversation with my clients. It was worth the time I had invested in WinWin Selling. Thanks once again!

Colette Arseneau.

Pat: I have spent the past 19 months (out of a 20 month program) in pursuit of my Masters degree in business. This is by far the best summary of business proposal writing I have seen (and I've seen quite a few). I am printing and saving everything. Thank you so very much! Best regards,

Rick Cohen

I will be sure to check it out. I'm now an IBM corporate sales trainer for our ibm.com Centers, and I have recommended your site to many new hires. I have been in education for about a year and a half and will be looking at many refresher courses, since I may be back selling at some point down the line. I am looking into first-line management positions, as well as a few other possibilities. I appreciate the fact that you keep in touch and continue to upgrade the course!

Lee Pierce

Pat, you have been awesome. I've enjoyed your personal e-mails and the comments are great. The fact that there is actually a live person there was the best. A colleague and myself were discussing the course and he believed that the responses were all automated. To prove to him they were not I showed him one and pointed out a typo in it. He was quite impressed.

Ron Reid

I entered into WinWin as a student who initially had good skills and technique with regards to sales and came out still a student but with great skills, great technique and a litany of resources at my disposal. From time management to prep work, first impressions to lasting impressions, I have to say WinWin delivered!

When i first was introduced to the topic of WinWin I was expecting a very methodical, calculative process on how to sell to a buyer. Within the first 5 minutes of reading I knew I was wrong. WinWin has not only offered me practical skills it offered skills which could cohere to interactions with coworkers to management straight through to my job role and that is my clients! Confidence, fact finding, positive communication and results are necessities on any level of interaction.

The sections of the course which proved a great benefit to me are in all honesty, every section. In the spirit of keeping it simple I'll only talk about a few!

1: The section on Confidence/Self Image was important to me. Some points which resonated are the emphasis on a positive attitude, portraying confidence in your company and your abilities, setting realistic goals and striving to be in the 10% that give that little extra

2: The section on Winning Peoples Support was very important as this was my first in depth look at the importance of a frame of mind. The key points I picked up were, recognizing the win/win-lose/lose mindsets and adjusting accordingly to communicate with a Win/Win attitude. This frame of mind is critical to success in business and personal endeavors!

3: The section on Generating New business brought to me great practical tips ranging from having a raised awareness that there are opportunities for potential prospects 7 days a week to the process of making appointments and realizing common faults we can make while in this juncture.

4: Fact Finding Skills was a key section for me because it advised in such areas as, (in a buyer situation), asking questions that focused on a buyers needs, doing prep work to be informed on buyers company, first impressions to ultimately make the buyer feel comfortable resulting in a productive fact finding session, smooth flow in conversation enlisting confidence in the buyer and knowing not to close too soon.

Coming into WinWIn I was asked to provide 3 goals in which I would reflect on during the duration of the course. These 3 goals were:

1: Learning different methods of selling/offered different perspectives
2: Applying a smooth call flow/implementing sales techniques
3: Closing out business confidently

Sitting here today I can confidently say that my target goals have been met if not surpassed. The resources provided through WinWin are invaluable and will prove an asset in every part of my life.

I was very satisfied with the course, materials, resources and support. It was a pleasure to have been part of it.

Sean Howard

There is nothing in this material that cannot do anything but make your sales career a great one. There are some points that are unique in the course but in general if a person was to sit back and look at this, it is mostly common sense and courtesy. I find if these principals are applied in day to day life, life is much nicer.

The objectives of WinWin Selling, in my opinion, have been achieved completely. I say completely because regardless of the quotas or product any of the skills outlined apply to everyday operations at work and home. Best for me was: the winwin attitude, having a positive attitude and looking at both sides of the coin. Better able to come to a mutually beneficial arrangement. In relation to quota, taking from the lessons in this course I am confident that applying them immediately increases my confidence. It’s a nice touch having someone on the other end to provide feedback and encouragement.

The comments were insightful, enjoyable and well received. I enjoyed it. It is a worthwhile investment of my time. Pat, you must work an unusual schedule to do this.

Jim Goodwin

Excellent - it was useful to get very quick feedback such as seeing other responses or what others had used as questions or letters. The comments back were also very useful and confirmed my views and approach.

Carol Mohlenhoff

Excellent! Great to have my responses sent back so quickly.

James C Gaines

It is good to hear from you.  I moved to the Pacific NW software technical sales team in October from IBM Global Services.  I feel that the WinWin Selling course has helped me significantly.  As a matter of fact I was the Pacific Northwest IT Specialist of the Quarter for Q1 of 2005.  I received this primarily for the opportunities for sales that I noticed.

I would say that the part of the course that helped me the most was the lesson that we "sell the sizzle not the steak".  As an IT specialist it is easy to get lost in the technical aspects of the job and lose sight of the fact that I am always selling.

Dean Compher

I took WinWin as an introduction to the sales industry 2 years ago. To date it has been the most memorable and most beneficial training session I have ever taken. With its flexible schedule and approachable support staff WinWin was a true winner.

Today I am an IBM Account Development Rep. Throughout the run of the day I am contacting many customers, encompassing a broad range of industries and responsibilities, listening to their needs and selling IBMs products and services as solutions. WinWin was truly a keystone in my foundation as an IBM sales rep.

I would recommend this course to everyone - not only in sales, but any one who would like to be able to communicate with more effectiveness and confidence in their lives.

Mike Watters

Thank you for providing such a valuable class, I would highly recommend it to others, including people in Technical roles.

John Bubenheim: Certified Migration Technical Specialist.

I found this course to be very beneficial for someone starting at IBM. Though I was unqualified or unprepared to complete some of the activities, it was filled with tips that I know I will use in the coming months. Great course – thank you!
